A third attempt will be made today to put together a 12-member jury to try the murder case of dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, and his five co-accused. Jury selection began on Monday in the Home Circuit Court, but only nine of the 62 potential jurors who turned up were chosen. Justice Lennox Campbell put off the selection process until yesterday for additional persons to be summoned for jury duty. Yesterday, only 15 possible jurors turned up, and after several challenges, only two additional jurors were selected. Two of the nine jurors who were empanelled on Monday informed the judge that they could not sit on the case, and after outlining their reasons were excused. challenged The court now needs three more jurors to complete the panel and Campbell said he was going to revisit the list of potential jurors who were challenged over the two-day period. In response to Justice Campbell's query about the civilian witnesses in the case, the investigating officer said that four of them were available, but he was having difficulty communicating with an additional two. "There is no impediment to the Crown starting the case," Senior Deputy Director of Public Prose-cutions Jeremy Taylor disclosed. Kartel and his co-accused are charged jointly with the murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams, who, it is alleged, was severely beaten at Kartel's home in Havendale, St Andrew, on August 16, 2011. The body has not been found. It is being alleged that Williams was killed because of a missing firearm. The other accused are entertainer Shawn Campbell, popularly known as Shawn Storm; fashion designer Calvin Haye; André St John; Shane Williams; and Kahira Jones.
