Accused accomplice in fraud case denied bail

A man who is accused of being the accomplice of Susan Broomfield, the accountant who was charged recently with defrauding her employer of more than $4 million, had his request for bail denied when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Charged for conspiracy to defraud is 37-year-old Kirk Adams of a Kingston 20 address.

It is alleged that on November 6, Adams used the $1.3 million allegedly stolen from co-accused Susan Broomfield's employer to purchase a 2006 Toyota Wish and registered the car in his name.

Broomfield, who was present, also had her request for bail denied.

She was charged with fraud recently, after she was accused of transferring funds from her employer's account to her personal account while working as an assistant internal auditor.

Adams and Broomfield were remanded into custody, and are to return to court for mention on November 26.
