Dispute over girlfriend lands father, son in court |

A father and son were brought before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday to answer to assault charges after fighting about the presence of the son's girlfriend. In a matter of case and cross-case, charged with assault occasioning bodily harm are Michael and Oraine Williams, both of the same Kingston address. It is alleged that on October 27, Michael Williams and his son, 19-year-old Oraine Williams were engaged in an altercation after Michael discovered his son's girlfriend was in the house in which they both reside. heard strange sounds According to Michael's statement, when he arrived home, he heard strange sounds coming from his son's room, when he went to investigate; it was revealed that Oraine and his (Oraine's) girlfriend were in the room. "I knocked on the room door, told him to open. When he refused, I forced the door open and saw him and his girlfriend, I said to her, 'Do you know that you're not supposed to be in this bedroom?' It is alleged that at this time, Oraine punched his father in the mouth and allegedly said, "Diss yuh a diss mi bwoy." The pair began to tussle and Michael received injuries to his chest, lower back and thigh and his son received injuries to his mouth and bruises. The pair was ordered to attend mediation by Resident Magistrate Mrs Henry-McKenzie, and are to return to court for mention on December 12. |
