Suspects in Bamboo River gun attack captured

Quick response from the East Kingston police on Sunday led to the capture of two men believed to be involved in a gun attack in Bamboo River, St Thomas, which left a teen dead and his grandmother hospitalised.

THE STAR understands that 16-year-old Kadiane Smith, a fifth-form student at the Morant Bay High School, succumbed to injuries on Sunday, following a gun attack while at home in the parish.

THE STAR was informed that Smith's grandmother remains in hospital in serious condition.

Information reaching our news team is that shortly after 1 p.m., the 16-year-old and the woman were at home when a car drove up to the premises with two men aboard.

Reports are that the men, after entering the premises, pulled guns and opened fire hitting the boy in his head while the woman received gunshots to her upper body.

Neighbours heard loud explosions and summoned the police.

Our news team gathered that the gunmen fled the scene in a Nissan Sunny motor car that was later intercepted by the police who went in pursuit of them.

Both men are now in custody facing charges of murder and attempted murder.

The police told THE STAR that both men will be questioned later this week.
