The police have confirmed that the vehicle that was involved in the accident that claimed the life of 14-year-old Cornwall College student Jouvhanie Whitmore was registered to the St James Parish Council and was recently purchased by a councillor.
It is reported that the transfer documents for the vehicle, however, have not yet been processed. Reported stolen The new owner of the vehicle reported the vehicle stolen to the Police two hours after the crash. The St James police are continuing their probe into the matter. Whitmore, son of former Reggae Boyz coach Theodore 'Tappa' Whitmore, died as a result of injuries he sustained when he was hit off his bicycle in a motor vehicle crash in St James on Saturday. He is of a Retirement address in the parish. Reports are that about 5:40 p.m., a Pajero SUV was travelling along the Retirement main road, when, upon reaching an intersection, the driver lost control and slammed into a motor car and a bicycle, both travelling in the opposite direction. Whitmore, who was reportedly a grade-nine student, was thrown from the bicycle and sustained injuries. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
