Dacian Watson shares her ... passion for God's word

Dacian Watson - George Henry

In 2005, Dacian Watson sensed a calling on her life and decided to surrender that life to the Creator.

"It was not just a calling on my life, but a calling to ministry. In 2009, I ventured into ministry and am now in the process of going to Bible college to get training in the word of God," said the female minister.

Watson, who is a member of the Full Gospel Central Assemblies of God Church at Norwood in St James, currently assists her pastor in New Believers classes in the youth department, as well as in other areas of the department where there is need.

"My walk with Christ is the best decision I have ever made. However, it has its challenges as well as it has great benefits. Serving God is not just what I do; it is who I am. it is what I was created to do and who I was created to be," testified the female church leader.

She admitted that life is filled with challenges, but she has a way of dealing with them as she seeks to serve God and humanity. Watson said she has been able to deal with her challenges adequately, owing to the fact that she has the Lord in her life.

"One of the things that I love to do is that I love to pray. In praying, I am able to deal with my challenges, to face them, to go through on a day-to-day basis knowing that they are temporary. This life is temporary and one day it will pass. With God's help, I have been coping well," shared Watson.

Despite what some persons say regarding females having leadership positions in the church, Watson said that such individuals are entitled to their opinions. However, according to her, persons who share that view are basing it on a passage of scripture that states that women should not preach or teach.

"In going to Bible college after I got the call of God on my life, that was when I really got a full understanding of that scripture. In understanding the context in which it is stated, I realised that how the speakers brought it about was not that ladies were not to be ministers, but in those days, women would sit around and they would gossip," Watson said.

She said in that setting and in that culture, women were not supposed to be ministers. She stated that women and men are created by God and all of us play a vital role in being God's extended hands, mouths, and ears.

"Once you are a female and you preach the word of God - the undiluted gospel of Jesus Christ where it is in scripture, and I can attest to it - I don't see why a female should not be a minister based on somebody's opinion," explained the female church leader.

Watson shared that her favourite passage of scripture can be found in Jeremiah 29:11. Her favourite song is Heaven's Stable Land.

"This song has been impacting my life. I am never comfortable where I am. No matter how far I go in ministry, it doesn't matter what God is doing in my life, I have learnt, and am still learning, to be humble each day because I believe that I want God to use me as a mover and a shaker of the gospel of Christ that will demonstrate the power of God," explained Watson.

She said with this being her favourite song, she has always been asking God to lift her higher. Watson was, however, quick to point out that she did not want God to lift her higher to a place where it had to do with denomination or how she looked. Neither did she want to be lifted higher to be a pastor or an evangelist, but to be a good servant of the Lord while demonstrating the true power of God.

She wants young people to start moving for the Lord. She also wants them to know that they are special and that they should know that there is no life outside of Jesus Christ.
