Referees suspended

The Jamaica Football Federation Referees Committee has suspended the officials involved in the Flow Champions Cup final between Waterhouse and Tivoli Gardens last Monday night at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.

The referees allowed the players to get away with unsporting behaviour during a game that saw Waterhouse win 3-1 in a penalty shoot-out.

Suspended until further notice were Tyrone Roberts and assistant referees Garnet Page and Malvin Reid. The fourth official was Dwight Royal.

A release from the Jamaica Football Federation stated that: "The Jamaica Football Federation Referees Committee is conducting a review of the Flow Cup final match played at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex on October 28.

"This is a result of its concern regarding the performance of the match officials and the high incidence of unsporting behaviour displayed by the players of both teams. The officials have been removed from refereeing with immediate effect."

Dave Meikle, a member of the JFF Referees Committee when contacted yesterday, told Star Sports, "We don't know when the review will be conducted as we are yet to get the DVD of the game."

Meikle also said he could not say much as he was the match commissary for the game. Efforts to contact, Peter Prendergast, chairman of the committee proved futile up to press time.
