Peacemaker stabbed to death - Was trying to end dispute between two men |

A teen who was fatally stabbed at a party on Heroes Day had been trying to quell a dispute between his friend and another man who was dancing with the friend's girlfriend, THE WEEKEND STAR understands. Allegations are that his friend became angry because the man was dancing with the girl in his presence. THE WEEKEND STAR understands that the party was in high gear when the fatal incident unfolded and triggered a round of chaos. The deceased, 17-year-old Odaine 'Black Boy' Dacres, was stabbed after a knife was brought into play. According to eyewitness reports, Dacres had intervened into the heated confrontation, trying to stop the argument, but ended up losing his life. A witness told THE WEEKEND STAR, "Di yute friend touch di man and say 'bredrin, a my woman yu a dance with, enuh' ... . And di man turn to him and say 'hmmm, well a my girl now' ...." Our news team was told that what transpired next was pure chaos. A bystander revealed: "Di man start shot di youth two quick box and dem start rassle and di friend (Dacres) start say, a weh unuh a do. Den we jus see di knife and den him drop a ground". Dacres is said to have died on the spot. THE WEEKEND STAR was told that police officers nearby saw what was happening and apprehended the suspect as a hostile crowd had formed, intent on unleashing their form of jungle justice. "Is a good ting di police dem come and grab di yute (suspect), cause when di people dem see di yute drop a ground dem start move towards the suspect fi mash him up," the witness said. The suspect was whisked away to the National Stadium Police Post. A senior officer at the St Andrew Central police confirmed the fatal stabbing. He said the suspect is in custody awaiting an identification parade. |
