Obey Uncle Donny |

Jimmie, Star Racing Writer UNCLE DONNY's consistency should earn him a win in Monday's 1820-metre Ace Supercentre Trophy race, a nine-horse overnight allowance with proven two-turn specialists. The Anthony Nunes-trained four-year-old was touched off on the line by the imported KAL KAL on September 21, going 2000 metres. Shooting two lengths clear of long-time leader HOMBRE, UNCLE DONNY was caught stealing home by KAL KAL, who won despite jockey Dane Nelson losing one of his stirrups early in the race. UNCLE DONNY, however, was clearly second best on the day, five lengths better than third-place HOMBRE with whom he renews rivalry. Were he a year younger and in his heyday, Superstakes winner HOMBRE would have put the field to the sword. At age eight, though he still has good backstretch pace, the gelding has been finding the younger horses too strong up the lane this year. UNCLE DONNY was also five lengths clear of HOMBRE when winning at the distance on March 30, confirming that time has caught up with the oldstager. RUM PUNCH, Wayne DaCosta's classic-placed three-year-old, reports at 53.0 kilos, level weight with UNCLE DONNY, and should be his main threat. Though faster than UNCLE DONNY down the backstretch, RUM PUNCH won't be able to shake off the proven stayer as he did the filly PRINCESS SHANEIL in a restricted stakes at 1500 metres two weeks ago. HOMBRE will ensure an honest pace, which will have RUM PUNCH close to the lead. UNCLE DONNY will enjoy stalking, as he did on last, and will make his move off the final turn. RUM PUNCH should have no answer when UNCLE DONNY comes calling up the lane. Their best times at the distance tells the tale. RUM PUNCH clocked 1:59.1 when blasting fellow three-year-olds, in a non-winner-of-two, on April 20. UNCLE DONNY, on the other hand, was awesome in 1:57.3, on March 30, beating JET SETTER and COLD GROUND in overnight allowance company. In addition to UNCLE DONNY, Monday's Heroes Day card has at least three other bankers - SUNLIGHT EXPRESS down in class in the opening event and a pair of debutants, MOREBULLETSTOFIRE in the seventh and TALENTED TONY K in the ninth. Three-year-old MOREBULLETSTOFIRE has been consistently shooting good times at exercise, the last being 1:00.3 from the gate two Saturdays ago. TALENTED TONY K makes his two-year-old debut in the ninth at 1300 metres and looked really sharp in 1:14.3 for six furlongs. RUM PUNCH, Wayne DaCosta's classic-placed three-year-old, reports at 53.0 kilos, level weight with UNCLE DONNY, and should be his main threat.
