Holy Trinity High will be looking forward to their first time in the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/ LIME Walker Cup knock-out competition when they face Charlie Smith High in the opening game of a quarter-finals double header today at the Constant Spring field, starting at 1 p.m.

In the day's second game, defending champions Wolmer's square off against Spanish Town High two hours later. Holy Trinity easily won Group G in the Manning Cup preliminary round to advance to the Walker Cup, a first in the school's history. They won nine games and drew one to be unbeaten entering the second stage of the Manning Cup as well as the Walker Cup.

Holy Trinity boasts the competition's leading scorer Shamar Dillon (15) and he is expected to get good support from strike partner Nicholas Hamilton (10) and captain Sherton McKenzie.

not scared

Devon Anderson, coach of Holy Trinity, says that his team is not scared by any opponent and their objective is to win both the Manning Cup and Walker Cup.

"Well, there has been talk that we have qualified from a soft group, but that was not the case as Innswood and Trench Town are good teams. They should come and watch Holy Trinity because we are here to stay," Anderson told STAR Sports yesterday.

"We are not here to just participate. Our objective before the season was to win both competitions and that remains the goal. I know that Charlie Smith is a good team, so we are going there to play good football and come out winners today. We are not scared by any opponent," the coach said.

tough clash

Meanwhile, Charlie Smith's coach Jerome Waite is looking forward to a tough clash against Holy Trinity. "They (Holy Trinity) have done well and they have the competition's (Manning Cup) leading scorer, so it will be a tough game," Waite said yesterday.

Charlie Smith's top marksman is Kimani Arbouine on seven goals, while Bebeto McDonald scored six times during the Manning Cup's preliminary round, where Charlie Smith qualified to the Walker Cup as the overall best second-placed team.

In the second game, it should be another interesting contest. Wolmer's are aiming to defend the Walker Cup title they won last year, but Spanish Town will be no pushovers.

All matches in the Walker Cup must be decided on the same day. Should the scores be equal at full-time, an extra-time period of 20 minutes will be played, and should the score be level again, penalty kicks will decide the winner.

Both quarter-final winners will advance to the semi-finals scheduled for next Tuesday, at the same venue.
