One hundred persons in custody after joint police-military operation

Approximately 100 persons were taken into custody yesterday morning after a joint police-military operation in York Town, Clarendon, police have reported.

Head of the Clarendon Division, Superintendent Michael Scott, stated that some of those taken into custody were persons of interest and will be further processed and questioned.

Some residents of the rural community are lauding the security team for their efforts due to the recent spate of violence in their community.

Others, however, stated they were displeased with the manner the lawmen handled the situation.

Up to late yesterday, it was not ascertained if any, or how much of those detained had been released.
