Residents of a St Andrew community are still abuzz with chatter since reports have surfaced that an elderly woman knowingly slept beside her dead husband who was also a senior citizen. THE WEEKEND STAR understands that tongues have been wagging in the small community since last week when the elderly man died. Reports are that the 86-year-old man was pronounced dead by a doctor on October 8, however, according to relatives of the deceased, he died from the night before. Some residents said the widow's behaviour was caused by her fright after losing her husband. A female resident who knew both well lamented: "Is like the man complain about a chest pain, say him chest a hurt him and she gave him something to drink. Him pass out and she realised that he was dead cause him stop move. But she sleep wid him cause she never want to lose him." Another resident said: "He was to go to work or somewhere with some people and when dem come fi him and nuh see him. Dem ask and it was revealed that him dead last night, and still at the house." The Stony Hill police confirmed knowledge of the situation. A senior officer said: "I heard about a death but from what I gather the doctor went there and did what they are supposed to do. It was the wife who called and reported it. The matter is still, however, being properly investigated." |
