Rising dancehall artiste Alkaline, is no stranger to making the news. The artiste is steadfast in remaining different and isn't concerned whether critics accept or bash his decisions as an artiste.

He has released what dancehall lovers are calling one of the raunchiest mix tapes ever done by an artiste. The Problem Child mix tape presented by ZJ Wah Wah, was downloaded more than 5,000 times on the first day of its release. It is also creating a huge buzz within dancehall circles locally and overseas.

The project contains 21 tracks.

In a release to the media, Alkaline said: "The mix tape is basically hitting back at the critics who are trying to downplay my ability as an artiste. At the same time, it showcases all sides of Alkaline the artiste. The good, the bad and the ugly".

With tracks such as Necrophilia, High So, Live My Life and Ready, the mix tape is the talk of the town. Fans in New York, Toronto and even in parts of the Caribbean have responded with varied comments.

"A lot of persons will be surprised that Ready is the first 'gun' song that I have done. The song that is taking the place by storm is Live My Life, which is basically my answer to persons who have a problem with everything that I do," said Alkaline.

Still reeling from his creditable performance at Reggae Sumfest this past summer, and the release of various videos and songs, Alkaline continues to ride the momentum.

"Alkaline is a hit in the streets right now. Radio is catching on, but from ever since it has always been the streets that say Alkaline. The ladies are my biggest fans, so much that I have to be changing my numbers regularly," he said jokingly.

The video for the track Things Me Love now has more than 300,000 views on YouTube. His official YouTube channel has more than a million hits. Additionally, Alkaline has been featured on three of the hottest rhythms over the last three months. These include the 'Pyramid', 'Detox' and 'Love Triangle' rhythms.

The artiste's fanbase has increased dramatically outside of Jamaica with fans from the US, Canada, the Caribbean and Central America hitting him up on social media. In Costa Rica, promoters are jockeying to be the first to bring the deejay to that country for his first performance.

"We don't have the ability to buy out the business so we a walk and give CD to every single dancehall fan. We continue to do music because a music alone we know and music alone we will ever do," said Alkaline.
