Iconic selector Sky Juice and his partner in musical battle Oliver Long Liver from Metromedia sound system are the 2013 Irish and Chin World Clash Champions after defeating seven international sound systems to win the trophy for the first time.

Sky Juice, who was entering the popular World Clash competition for the first time in his very long career, says he feels like Usain Bolt.

"This is the World Championship for selectors and sound systems, so I feel like I am the champion of the world right now. I am the man to beat," he said.

"We went in the clash as professionals ... me and Oliver Long Liver playing sound for over 23 years together, and you know what old people say: 'Two heads better than one.' We went to do our work as the two most mature selectors and we schooled them. The other selectors were younger and have nuff tune but dem don't know how to play them. I didn't go to no school for this, a God put me on the Earth to do this," Sky Juice said.

According to the iconic selector, he stayed away from sound clashes over the years because the new selectors are too disrespectful. However, he was encouraged to enter this staging because he was told that the clash would be monitored by judges with strict rules.

positive

"I went to play good music and not to get into argument with people. First thing, when yu a play wid dem youth ya nowadays dem a tell yu bout yu madda, and yu woman a yu yard, so I stayed away from it. Some of them tried the slackness in this clash too but I walked around that and kept it positive," he said.

Sky Juice says his two biggest competitors were King Addis and Mighty Crown - they were placed second and third, respectively. However, he managed to defeat them because they did not know his playing style, therefore they could not counteract his selections effectively.

no dispute

"Mi know sey if dem mek mi pass first round dem cyah ketch mi again because mi know music - when mi start beat dem, dem get soft like porridge. Mi right hand Oliver nuh ramp, dem man ya a big selector. Wi not even guh wid a game plan because dem wi mash up yu game plan. Everything dem play, mi play badda. It's like Usain Bolt, as yu think yu reach close to him di bar raise higher. Dem nuh know my catalogue because mi nuh clash long time," he said.

Sky Juice says following the announcement that he won the clash there was no dispute among patrons because the winner was obvious. He also disclosed that they (the sound) were already receiving calls from promoters globally who want them to be featured on events.

The selector also named some artistes who he says helped him to secure victory for Metromedia and Jamaica via their lethal dub plates.

"Mi mash dem up wid Bounty Killer, Sizzla, Beenie Man, Buju, Wayne Wonder, Peter Metro, Shabba, Pan Head, Ninja Man, Freedie McGregor, Tony Tuff, Half Pint, Lutan Green, Bushman, Heptones, John Holt, Screechie Joe, Dutty Harry, Tony Rebel, Queen Ifrica, Macka Diamond, Romain Virgo, Anthony Cruz, Tony Curtis and Jiggsy."

He added, "Mi just waan big up everybody, mi can't call every name but big up Faada Metro and Peter Metro, Sunny Spoon, Seview Car Wash Crew, Jones Town, Portmore, Pathfinders crew and Central Village."

Some of the other notable sound systems that entered the competition include, Soul Supreme from New York, King Addis from New York, Renaissance Jamaica, Mighty Crown from Japan and Fire Links from Jamaica.
