Diandra Grandison, Staff Reporter

There are currently mixed reactions after a video showing a man in plain clothes said to be a police officer slapping students in the head, while forcing them to leave a game shop in Montego Bay was posted online recently.

The video captioned ''Police molesting kids and even slapping a young girl repeatedly in her head, has sparked an online debate about the amount of force being used by law enforcers to discipline the nation's children.

In the four-minute tape, the man who was clad in blue short pants, orange polo shirt and black flip flops, could be seen at the entrance of the game shop, meting blows to the students' heads.

visibly frightened

The man while passing out blows could be heard ordering the students, "Go home! Weh yah do in yah! Don't come back! Don't come back!" as the visibly frightened children grimaced after being slapped.

In the video, a total of six students including one girl, who all appeared to be younger than 11 years old, could be seen receiving slaps to the head while exiting the game shop.

Further in the video, the much older occupants, who were also in uniform, were barred from exiting the gaming facility, but did not meet the same fate as their younger peers.

The man could be seen with his pen and notepad in hand, taking the names and other personal information from the boys who appeared to be in their teens.

sparked outrage

The video, which currently has over 100 likes, almost 500 shares and close to 500 comments, has sparked outrage among some viewers, while others applauded the officer for his efforts.

"This should be reported to the Police High Command, this is totally wrong, if he feels there is an infraction, the owner of the establishment should be dealt with, no grounds to hit people kids like that," a viewer commented.

Another stated, however, "I bet they won't go back there! The sick activities that take place in these 'games rooms' are ridiculous. No place for kids, he should have taken off his belt and buss dem.too!! For all those screaming 'brutality,' try raising your own kids for a change or the police will do it for you!"

While another user commented, "I agree with discipline 100% but that's not how you do it."

A few days ago a video which was circulating online titled, 'Schoolboy and Police Fighting in Sav Town' also sparked debates about how a law enforcer went about disciplining a loitering school boy in Savanna-la-mar.
