Women should be independent

Dear Pastor,

I do not think that women should depend on men to support them. When women depend on men for support and will not go out and work, they should know that the day may come when these men will be fed up and stop supporting them. And it will cause problems in the relationship, especially if the persons who are dependent don't want to work. I hope you will continue to do your good work. May God bless you.

Unnamed

Dear ...,

There are times when women have chosen not to work because they want to stay home and take care of their young children, and their husbands can support them well. Sometimes, it is the husbands who have encouraged these women not to go out and work and they give their women enough money, not only to take care of their homes, but also themselves. Frankly, nothing is wrong with that. Lots of these women are professionals. And when their children enter high school, these women seek employment because they do not need to stay home anymore. Many of these women find jobs easily because their husbands are businessmen.

On the other hand, there are men who can hardly help themselves who insist that their women should not work. And as a result, the children are not adequately supported. And there is a third category, they are the lazy women who prefer to depend on men for everything. They do not help themselves. They sit idly by every day chatting on the phone. They don't even wash, clean and cook. These are the women who are non-progressive and who are often abused by men.

Relationship is partnership. And good women do not have to be forced to do anything. They know what they ought to do and what they ought not to do.
