A trick that went too far landed a woman in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court Friday to answer to larceny charges.

Charged with larceny by trick is Subrina Martin, who plead guilty and offered the court an explanation.

The court was told that on the day in question, the complainant loaned the accused her phone. The accused then allegedly distracted her and took off with the device.

Martin was picked up by the police one month after the incident.

She told the court, "a nuh me thief di phone, a mi fren beg mi a call and go weh and sell the phone".

The court was told that Martin had eventually agreed to replace the phone.

Resident Magistrate Lorna Shelly-Williams told Martin that she is to bring the phone to her next court appearance today. She was further remanded.
