Court to decide if ... WOMAN 'ACIDS' MATEY IN DISPUTE OVER MAN

A woman who is accused of using a caustic substance to burn another woman over an alleged dispute they had over a man was remanded when she appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm is 24-year-old Tay-Marie Jones of a Corporate Area address.

The court heard that Jones and the complainant reportedly had a dispute over a man on September 22. It is alleged that during the dispute, the accused reportedly doused the complainant with a caustic substance which resulted in burns to sections of her body. The impact of the burns caused her to be hospitalised.

It was also revealed in court that sometime prior to the incident, a derogatory voicemail message was sent to the complainant.

Jones is to return to court on Friday.
