Olympic silver medallist Kerron Stewart looks set to join the Racers Track Club, according to information reaching Star Sports.

Stewart, who won 100m silver medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the 2009 IAAF World Championships in Berlin, has not trained in Jamaica since leaving St Jago High School for New Jersey's Essex Community College in 2003 en route to Auburn University.

The 2007 NCAA champion over 60m and 200m is expected to end her long-standing relationship with coach Henry Rolle in Alabama and pair up with noted local sprint coach Glen Mills.

It is understood that the sprinter has expressed an interest in joining the Racers Track Club ranks, information that president and head coach, Mills, when contacted, was not willing to confirm or deny. However, Stewart, who also preferred not to speak on the reported developments is believed to be making final preperations for her return to the island.

solid season

Stewart, who also won a bronze medal in the 200m at the Beijing Olympics, has had several injury setbacks in recent seasons, but showed signs that she is once again ready to push for a top spot with a solid season this year with a 10.96 season best and a fifth-place finish in the 100m final at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow.

If the move is confirmed, the 29-year-old will be training directly with the likes of Schillonie Calvert as well as international sprinting stars Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake.
