Afar music Group recording artiste Oriel recently released his debut EP titled 'Confidence'.

The EP comprises five tracks: the title track Confidence, All By Myself, Crazy Love, Down Where I Live, and an acoustic version of Down Where I Live.

The Afar Music Group-produced project is a precursor to Oriel's upcoming album, which is slated to be released early next year.

"The EP was designed basically to give listeners a taste of what is going to be on my album. I just wanted to whet their appetites a bit," said Oriel.

Unwilling to be defined by any one genre of music, Oriel chose to experiment with a fusion of sounds on his EP.

"I'm all about the music and I love lots of different sounds. When I am making beats for my songs, I experiment with a mixture of genres such as reggae, jazz, R&B, and rock. This is evident on all five tracks of Confidence. every song has a different sound," said the artiste.

Despite his experiments with various genres, Oriel firmly believes in the power of reggae music, and this is noticeable in most of his songs.

"Reggae music is one of the strongest forces. this genre is the most effective form of music to utilise in sending strong, positive messages to the people. Reggae is known for that worldwide. people all over the world who want uplifting music listen to reggae. The message in my music is both eye opening and inspiring," he said.

According to the talented singer and songwriter, he plans to play his part in the ongoing reggae revival.

"I believe that I have a role to play in the new reggae movement as a positive and uplifting young reggae singer, and I am going to do my utmost best to do so. The fans can count on me to always deliver good music," said Oriel.

The name Oriel is fairly new to local music fans, but this talented young man, who hails from the island of Dominica, has been doing good work for quite some time now. Over the last couple of years, he has recorded and released a number of singles, including Feeling Good and Scheme (Nah Stay Far).

He has also produced tracks for several popular local acts, including Wayne Wonder, Bugle, Konshens, Christopher Martin, RDX, and Raine Seville.
