As the group stages of the 2013 ISSA/LIME Manning Cup football competition come down to the wire, with just two sets of matches to go, another Charlie Smith player is making a mark for himself and his team in the competition.

Striker Bebeto Marcus McDonald was outstanding on Saturday, putting his name on the score sheet when Charlie Smith trashed defending champions St George's College (St GC) 3-0 at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex, on Collie Smith Drive.

The 18-year-old McDonald is playing his second Manning Cup year for Charlie Smith and believes his team can claim this year's title if they remain composed.

"I believe we can win the Cup if we just remain focused and not let the victories take our eyes off the main aim," said McDonald.

The striker, who hails from Arnett Gardens, just a stone's throw from his school, has won two cups with Arnett at the under-14 and under-17 levels, and is determined to make his community and family proud. McDonald is also looking forward to sitting four to six subjects in the 2014 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate examination.

McDonald made some impressive runs towards goal, taking on StGC defenders and after being denied was persistent. He never looked to have a doubt in his mind as he picked up a beautiful pass from Shamar Pryce, before weaving his way past his markers and netting Charlie Smith's third and final goal in the 41st minute.

"The team played well today and I am just proud of my team," said McDonald.

"Coach Waite really pushes me to the limit, so when I go out there I just have to do my best," he added "This competition is not about me, but my team and our ambitions."
