Businessman arrested for fraud

A 37-year-old businessman who was slapped with more than 15 charges was remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Olando Meredith, aka Merick Steel, of Stanmore Heights, Red Hills, St Andrew, appeared in court to answer to breaches of the Forgery Act. He returns to court on Tuesday October 15, 2013

The charges include:

Possession of forged birth certificate.

Obtaining birth certificate by false means.

Possession of forged Tax Registration Number.

Obtaining Tax Registration Number by false means.

Uttering a forged birth certificate.

Possession of forged driver's licence.

Obtaining driver's licence by false means.

Uttering a forged Tax Registration Number.

Possession of forged motor vehicle title.

Obtaining motor vehicle title by false means.

Uttering a forged driver's licence.

Possession of forged visa ( 2 counts).

Uttering a forged passport.

Obtaining visa by false means.

Marrying under a false name with intent to deceive.

Uttering a forged motor vehicle title.

Meredith was arrested on Tuesday, September 24 by detectives from MOCA in an operation in the Half-Way Tree area. The police said the offences were committed over a 10-year period between 2003 and 2013.
