Second DNA, still no dad

Mom continues search for real babyfather

Today, we continue with our buzz-worthy feature, Paternity Puzzle.

The Paternity Puzzle feature, attempts to help families solve paternity disputes. One lucky person each month will get a free test and reveal the truth once and for all.

This and every Wednesday, we publish the story of a mother and a suspected father, who will both give their sides in tales of allegations and denials.

Be sure to follow the series as THE STAR awards a free DNA test, sponsored by Caribbean Genetics, to the most interesting story for the month.

The DNA results for the much anticipated story dubbed 'Second DNA to find real dad' published September 11 are here.

Last month, 30-year-old Carlene Rowe, after doing a previous paternity test which determined that a former lover was not the father of her child, was this time around positive beyond a doubt that the THE STAR paternity feature would finally determine who is her rightful dad for her child.

She said, "The other gentleman result said negative ... David must be the positive, because I was not seeing anyone else."

However, the results are in, and the probability of paternity for David is zero per cent.

This second failed paternity test has left Rowe devastated and in tears, clueless as ever, trying to contemplate her next move to find the biological father for her nine-year-old daughter.

On hearing the results she told THE STAR, "My God I'm lost right now, really lost!"

Rowe, who is currently unemployed, previously told THE STAR that her long-time, on-and-off lover 33-year-old butcher, David Myers, had to be the father of her nine-year-old daughter.

Myers, who barely remembers the age of the child, says he is not sure how he got in the equation because although he did have sex with Rowe, he wore protection.

When THE STAR contacted Myers he was busy attending to his animals, but was quite interested in knowing the results.

He said: "I want to know the answer, but I am sure that I am not the father!"

When he was told of the negative results he said, "I am happy to know"

He, however, did offer some words of advice for Rowe. "I hope the best for her, that even after the second failed result, she will be able to find the real father"

THE STAR asked Myers if by chance he had any idea who the real father could be and he gave a resounding, "No!"

Rowe, however, was hoping that this second test would have revealed the truth once and for all.

In an earlier interview she said, "If the child is his, everything will be ok. His father accepts the child already enuh, but is only because his friends a trouble him why he is refusing. If the child is not his then I wouldn't know what to do because I can't think of anybody else, and I am sure."

Rowe was yesterday asked who could be another possible candidate and if she plans on continuing her search.

She said: "None at all! Continue? I wouldn't know where to start, much less to continue"
