A 58-year-old man who punched his wife in the face because she allegedly refused to give him money, returns to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court for sentencing on October 31. Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm is Willis Henry. Allegations are that last month the two got into an argument in Frankfield, Clarendon, where his wife lives, when Henry punched her on the left side of her face causing swelling. The wife told the court she was punched because she refused to give Henry money for his lover who resides in the area. "Him tump me inna me face fi get money fi pay him woman rent! I mine him! Everyting him have I give him!" she said. Henry denied he punched her, but used a tissue to hit her in the face. When asked by Resident Magistrate Lorna Williams if he does have a girlfriend in the area, a smiling Henry responded, "Yes!" The infuriated wife responded: "She lives across the street from me! He hits me every month when him want money! Tell the judge how much money mi gi yuh! Mi gi yuh $13,000 a week!" Henry responded, "Tell har wah mi do fi yuh!" RM Williams said she would only offer Henry bail if he has somewhere to stay, since he can no longer reside with his wife. Henry responded, "Well I can live next door!" He quickly added, "next door is where mi mada live". Laughter erupted in the courtroom. |
