Chad Bryan, Star Writer The body of a man who was shot and killed was discovered in the river beneath the May Pen Bridge in May Pen, Clarendon, yesterday morning. The dead man has been identified as 38-year-old mechanic Andrew Walker of Pwing Winkey in the parish. The discovery of the man caused a large crowd to gather, which resulted in a traffic pile-up along the thoroughfare leading to the bridge. On Monday night, residents reportedly heard gunshots and made the ghastly discovery of the body early Tuesday morning. nephew Walker's aunt, Yvonne Walker, said the last time she heard from her nephew was when he passed her house on Monday evening, and said he had received a call to go and work on a motor vehicle. "The last time I saw him was last night. He passed my house around 6 p.m. and when I asked him where he was going, he said somebody had called him to look on a vehicle. That was the last I heard from him," she said. As investigations continue, a motive is yet to be established for the killing. Since January of this year, 92 persons have been killed in Clarendon. |
