GANGS LINKED TO INCREASE IN crime |
|||||
|
The Police High Command in a release yesterday said that the increase in murders and shootings is the work of criminal gangs. The commissioner said that the surge in murders and shootings is as a result of robberies and gang conflicts which have been escalating. He said this increase is occurring despite several arrests and gun seizures by the police this year when compared with the corresponding period last year. The commissioner said that the current situation demands a more aggressive and confrontational approach to mobile, armed and dangerous criminals. He said the police are committed to act professionally and respect human rights. Meanwhile, the public is being advised to keenly observe the action of the police and hold them accountable wherever there are concerns about their professionalism. |
