Rasbert Turner, Star Writer
The use of a DNA test has altered the course of a sexual offence case before the court causing a case of incest to be changed to carnal abuse. The case of incest was changed to carnal abuse after a DNA test revealed that the accused was not the father of the complainant. It was revealed, however, that the accused was the father of the child that the complainant gave birth to. As a result, the accused scheduled to stand trial in the St Catherine Circuit Court on October 27. Allegations are that in 2010, the accused allegedly impregnated the then 13-year-old. The accused was under the impression that the complainant who lived in the family home was his biological daughter. He volunteered to do the test after he was charged with incest. |
