Remains discovered under coal kiln |

The St Catherine South police said the discovery of the skeletal remains a week ago of a man under a coal kiln has widened the awareness of members of the force. The Star learnt that the body was that of Marcus Lorde, 32, unemployed of Sharper Lane, Church Pen, St Catherine. "In all my years as a detective working islandwide, it's the first time that I ever observed this level of concealment," a police personnel told The Star. It was revealed that it was swift detective work that led to the discovery. chopped in head A man who was arrested on criminal charges, confessed to observing the deceased being chopped in the head and later buried. A police party from Old Harbour was taken to Church Pen where the bones were dug up. "We also discovered a large amount of charred coal which was on top," a policeman said. The Star was informed that tests conducted on the skeletal remains revealed Lorde died from a wound to the head. The name of the suspect is being withheld pending a probe. Lorde was said to have been reported missing two years ago. |
