Another man, another DNA - Mom names second man as possible babyfather

After another round of deliberations, THE STAR Paternity Puzzle feature that was published on September 10, dubbed 'Second DNA to find real dad', has been chosen as the winning story for the month of August.

A confident 30-year-old Carlene Rowe, who believes that she has pin-pointed the real father for her child, is now on her way to the truth.

She previously did a paternity test on her daughter, however, the results came back negative, sending her scurrying to continue her search.

Rowe also told THE STAR that her long-time, on-and-off lover, 33-year-old butcher, David Myers, must be the father of her nine-year-old daughter; however, Myers, who barely remembers the age of the child, says he is not sure how he got in the equation because although he did have sex with Rowe, he wore protection.

The two are currently involved in separate relationships, and in the case of Myers, he is not sure how his partner will react to a test if it is positive.

Rowe previously said: "I really would love for it to be positive. Truth be told, I have done a test already with a guy I thought I was pregnant for, and it was negative."

He said: To me, she nuh sure. It would be a miracle if the child is mine because as I said, I did use a condom.

She said: "If the child is his, everything will be ok. His father accepts the child already, enuh, but, is only because his friends a trouble him why he is refusing. If the child is not his, then I wouldn't know what to do because I can't think of anybody else, and I am sure."

Rowe also explained to THE STAR that she did not intentionally do the first DNA test.

She said: It is not like me just tek up mi self and do a DNA test on my daughter. What happen was that after I became pregnant, I didn't know and I started living with the other guy. When the child born, his brother started boosting him to do a DNA test, and a so one day I get a court order and it was at court dat we hear di results of the DNA test.

He said: If the child is mine, then I would just take care of her, and if she is not mine, nothing would happen. Di child don't look like nobody in my family and she don't resemble me either.

She said: The child resembles one of his sisters, and she has the body just like his side of family.

Myers, who told THE STAR that he had two daughters, continued that he believed Rowe is jealous of his new relationship with his woman.

He said: I don't know whose name the child is in. I think it's her friend dem a boost her to do the test because dem see me live with my baby-mother and dem believe say a she shoulda live wid me.

THE STAR understands that the child was registered in Rowe's ex-lover's name, the man who got the negative results.

The Paternity Puzzle feature attempts to help families solve paternity disputes. One lucky person each month will get a free test and reveal the truth once and for all.

This and every Wednesday, we publish the story of a mother and a suspected father, who will both give their sides in tales of allegations and denials.

Be sure to follow the series as THE STAR awards a free DNA test, sponsored by Caribbean Genetics, to the most interesting story for the month.
