Christine Hewitt-Gordon murder trial date set

Rasbert Tuner, STAR Writer

More than seven years after the murder of radio personality Christine Hewitt-Gordon a trial date has been reached.

It was decided yesterday that the trial is to start on Monday, September 23 in the St Catherine Circuit Court.

Hewitt's husband, David Gordon, and his brother Wordsworth Gordon are charged with Hewitt's murder.

When the matter was called up Justice Leighton Pusey put the matter for trial.

Investigating officer Deputy Superintendent Paul Thomas outlined the case. He told the court that the accused men were charged in 2009, three years after the incident.

He told the court that personnel from telecommunications provider Digicel will appear as witness and provide call data.

Allegations are that on June 29, 2006, the charred remains of Hewitt-Gordon was found along the Freedom main road in Riversdale in a burnt out Toyota Townace.

An intensive investigation was launched which resulted in the arrest and charge of the brothers.

They are being represented by attorneys-at-law Michael Deans and Pierre Rogers.
