Power of Faith settle the score

Power of Faith settle the score

Power of Faith proved that they will be hard to beat in the final of the Power of Faith Ministries Church Netball League after they downed Lighthouse Assembly 32-17 in both teams' last preliminary-round game at the PFM Sports Complex, lot 10C Dawkins Drive, last Saturday.

In a match dubbed the dress rehearsals for the final, PFM didn't allow the youthful Lighthouse team to play their natural game. The PFM attackers were aggressive in their mode of play and reaped the rewards.

PFM's goal shoot, Melonie Bailey, led all shooters with 21 goals from 28 attempts, while her shooting partner, Debbie-ann Coghiel, shot 11/13 goals. Renae Miller (10/12) and Brittany Thompson (7/12) scored Lighthouse's goals.

PFM ended the prelims with a maximum 12 points, and Lighthouse remained on nine points. They will next play in the final on Saturday, September 21.

In the opening game at the venue, Harmony Gospel Chapel won their first game of the season as they defeated Faith Temple New Testament 22-7. Rosemarie Francis was Harmony's topscorer with 16 goals from 23 attempts, while goal attack Asoya McKay netted 6/14 attempts. It was an off day for Faith Temple's shooters as the shooting pair of Crechelle Walker (3/10) and Melisha Simmonds (4/14) could only muster a combined seven goals from 24 attempts.

Today's game pits Christian Fellowship World Outreach against Faith Temple in a lone game at 2 p.m.
