PSG beat Bordeaux to move to top of French league

BORDEAUX, France (AP):

Paris Saint-Germain eased to a 2-0 win at Bordeaux yesterday to move provisionally to the top of the French league.

PSG dominated from the start and took the lead on the half hour mark. Zlatan Ibrahimovic picked out Blaise Matuidi with a delightful pass and although his first shot was stopped by Cedric Carrasso, Matuidi collected the rebound, rounded the Bordeaux goalkeeper and fired home.

Bordeaux never really threatened and PSG doubled their lead in the 64th minute when Lucas beat the offside trap to run on to Marco Verratti's through ball and score his first goal in 15 Ligue 1 appearances.

PSG, which are unbeaten in their past 16-league matches, would have scored more but for a string of saves by Carrasso.

The defending champions move one point above Monaco, which hosts Lorient on Sunday.
