Construction worker remanded |

A man, who claimed that it was shock that caused him to hold his child's mother at knifepoint, was remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, false imprisonment and having an offensive weapon is 28-year-old construction worker Evon McFarlane from Grant's Pen, St Andrew. Allegations are that McFarlane saw the complainant standing along Constant Spring Road talking to a male friend, when he demanded she goes with him. She refused and he reportedly grabbed and pushed her at knifepoint into a taxi parked nearby. The complainant reportedly made her escape, and reported the matter to the police. "He was overcome with shock when he saw her for the first time after she moved out of his house over a month ago," McFarlane's attorney told the court. "He and the complainant were having a difficult relationship, and he regrets what happened in Half-Way Tree Square, we sincerely apologise to the court and the complainant." The visibly upset complainant told the court that she no longer wanted to continue the case. "I forgive him and I don't want to proceed with it, I've moved on with my life. I want a restraining order against him," she said. A fingerprint order was made and McFarlane returns to court on October 23. |
