In an effort to highlight the importance of dancers in the dancehall industry, dancer-turned-artiste John Bling has done a song, 'We Are The Dance'. Written by John Bling, the song was a collaboration with other dancers such as Sadiki, Ding Dong, John Bling, Boysie, Mad Michelle, Queen Latesha, Craigy Dread, Keiva Di Diva and Latonya Styles, with Don Frisco as lead vocalist. "It's an all-star dancers anthem, which was recorded as an initiative to give a voice for the dance fraternity, demonstrating their importance on the dancehall scene. The endeavour was organised by Latonya Styles and Keiva Di Diva, produced by Danny Champagne (Champagne Records)," John Bling said in a release sent to THE WEEKEND STAR. In the release, he said the song was also done because "the authentic Jamaican dancehall dancers are not being featured in the popular artistes' music videos and, therefore, not being financially supported for their talents. "After all, this is where the dance form originated and Jamaican Artistes who were fortunate enough to successfully cross over to mainstream should be supporting their culture by relying on these dancers to deliver the best possible performance of the dance." John Bling is slated to do a promotional tour in the United States in a few weeks, where he will do his first performance at the John Jay School Of Criminal Justice in New York for its annual cultural fair. He will be the guest of honour and will speak on his Jamaican culture and his career, as well as perform his songs and dance for the students. John Bling's first book, A Day In The Life Of John Bling, will be published very soon and his music will be featured on the soundtrack of the US film Jamaican Mafia. The music video for his song Smooth An A Move will be released in a few weeks. - |
