A man who is accused of performing oral sex on a 13-year-old girl, and then using the act to blackmail the teen was taken into police custody last week, THE STAR understands.

It is reported that the accused man was picked up by the St Mary police, after the teenage girl told a family member about the alleged abuse.

Information reaching THE STAR is that the young girl was allegedly being abused by the accused over a period of time but only made the matter known to her family recently.

A source close to the case told THE STAR that the teen was fed up of the abuse, but refrained from spilling on the family friend as the accused would blackmail her.

It is reported that after the matter was brought to light, the accused fled the community.

However, he was reportedly picked up by the police, after he was pointed out.

"He is a close friend of the family, somebody dat go to di girl yard and eat and drink. It just seem as if she get tired of him and jus buss out everything. Is a man dat bun out oral sex, it shock everybody, and if him never run away di people dem would kill him. Di girl faada never know what did a gwaan," a source told THE STAR.

The police are investigating the matter.
