Manchester United's unconvincing start to the new Barclays Premier League campaign has a few of their fans feeling early jitters - probably none more than Jamaican superstar sprinter Usain Bolt.

The six-time Olympic gold medallist and 100m and 200m world record holder - a well known supporter of the 20-time English champions, took to popular social media hub Instagram, where he posted a 16-second video urging new United manager David Moyes to sign a creative midfielder before the transfer window slams shut today at 5 p.m. Jamaican time.

no-nonsense tone

"I am Usain Bolt, a big fan of Manchester United," started Bolt in a no-nonsense tone.

"Dave Moyes, we need a creative midfielder, one that can pass and create opportunities, right now. More control. Serious face."

United have had little success adding to their squad over this transfer window and Moyes had in fact looked to increase the team's creativity in the midfield, but has seen several bids for top players dismissed.

The former Everton manager, who replaced legendary boss Alex Ferguson on the United bench, has submitted bids for Athletic Bilbao's Ander Herrera, Roma's Italian international Daniele De Rossi, Barcelona's former Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas and his one-time charge Maroune Fellaini.

He has also tried to add roaming left back Leighton Baines but has had no success so far, prompting Bolt to take his concerns around his beloved club, which find themselves in the unfamiliar seventh position in the Premier League points table.

Bolt is a regular at United's famous home ground Old Trafford and was showcased to the 'Red Devils' supporters ahead of a home match last season, after he won three gold medals at the London Olympic Games.

He is also a friend of Ferguson, who was the longest serving coach of United, with a 26-year reign that yielded 38 trophies, including 13 Premier League titles and two UEFA Champions League cups.
