Jamaica Under-21 netballers will be aiming to retain the bronze in the World Youth Netball Championships today when they oppose arch-rivals England in the third-place play-off in Glasgow, Scotland, starting at 8:30 a.m (Jamaica time).

The junior Sunshine Girls will enter today's encounter still smarting from their defeat to New Zealand in the semi-final on Thursday.

However, having defeated England in their last three meetings, the Oberon Pitterson-coached side will start as the favourites to reclaim the bronze which they won four years ago in the Cook Islands.

Annette Daley, assistant coach of the young Jamaicans, said they will not be taking their opponents lightly.

"We are not taking anything for granted as both teams will be coming to play," said Daley. "We are playing for one medal and therefore we are going out there, not looking back at what happened before, but just to take the game as a fresh situation."

Raring to go

Daley pointed out that the girls have recovered well from their semi-final defeat on Thursday and everyone is ready and raring to go.

"It was a disappointing loss but we have pulled out all the stops in order to get the girls back to the frame of mind that we want them to perform well tomorrow," Daley said. "We had a semi down time today (Friday) and, therefore, we had a team talk, we had discussions and we took them on a little excursion just for them to relax," she said.

Daley added: "Right now they are in a good place and they are thinking positive and they are taking the positives from the New Zealand match and that is what we want them to do."

Defending champions Australia will face New Zealand in the final after the third-place play-off.
