The 2013 Roper Cup football festival will be held today at Clovelly Park, Kingston College (KC), starting at 10:00 a.m.

The competition is set to begin with the Under-16 'Colts' teams from hosts KC and rivals St George's College opposing each other. The focus will then shift to the Under-35 encounter followed by the Over-35 match, which is expected to feature former Reggae Boy Fabian Davis, Yaro Magnus of KC, and St George's Christopher DaCosta and Mario Watts.

Showcase

The Under-14 boys will then get a chance to showcase their skills before the big Manning Cup showdown.

KC's Donovan Hayles is anticipating a stellar year for the boys in purple.

"We have been preparing very well, and all I can say is, don't be surprised if we go all the way this year," Hayles said.

St George's have retained most of the players from last season's champion team with a couple of additions including the outstanding 16-year-old midfielder Martin Davis who spent three years and six months at Valencia FC's Academy in Spain.

Regional cable giant SportsMax will once again sponsor the Roper Cup, and will be providing an MVP Trophy for the Over-35 and Manning Cup winners. The 2013 honouree for the Roper Cup will be St George's College's old boy Lennox Robinson.

Admission to the event is $200.
