.. Club confirms player's inclusion in Reggae Boyz squad

Soon-to-return Reggae Boyz Marlon King and English Championship Club Birmingham have finally parted ways, as the club looks to trip a massive wage bill by offloading some of its most expensive players.

According to the club's official website, both parties terminated the foward's contract, which was set to run till the end of this season, by mutual consent. The striker will now be on the lookout for new employers when he becomes a free agent on September 2.

"Marlon King has left Blues by mutual consent after both parties opted to terminate the remainder of his contract," said the release.

"The striker's deal was due to run until the summer of 2014 but that agreement has ended prematurely and King will now be available as a free agent from 2 September."

The club, while explaining the decision to part ways with the striker, also confirmed that King, who retired from international football last year, is expected to return to the squad, now under the guidance of new coach Winfried Schaefer.

"The 33-year-old, who has recently been called up to the Jamaica squad for their forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Panama and Costa Rica, was informed at the end of last season that he was free to talk to potential employers due to the club having to trim its player wage costs in order to meet Financial Fair Play regulation requirements.

King had been placed on the transfer list last season but saw several moves away from the club fail to materialise. The club also thanked the player, who joined from Coventry City two seasons ago, for his service to the club.

"The club would like to take this opportunity to thank Marlon for his magnificent service to Blues over the last two seasons and wish him well for the next chapter of his career. "
