A St Ann man accused of stealing a woman's purse, had his case deferred until October 15 in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Desburn Cole, 44, welder from Philadelphia, is charged with simple larceny against Novelette Malcolm.

Allegations say about 8:20 p.m. on July 1, Malcolm placed her purse on a church bench while attending a meeting. A man entered, grabbed the bag and ran.

The next day, acting on information, Malcolm made a report to the Savanna-la-Mar Police Station in Westmoreland. Following investigations, Cole was detained. He underwent an identification parade and was later charged.

Yesterday, Clerk of the Court Orrett Brown told presiding Magistrate Vivienne Harris that the prosecution's file needed outstanding documents.

"We are awaiting several documents. I am going to request a mention date four to six weeks from now, to complete the file," said Brown.

"This matter will be mentioned on October 15... ," RM Harris replied.
