A two-week ultimatum has been given to a young man who has been squatting on a premises in Duhaney Park, Kingston.

Apel Brown appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday, on allegations that he damaged three windows at the home where he was overstaying his welcome.

Brown is charged with malicious destruction of property. He returns to court on September 16.

Brown was arrested after the female complainant reported that he smashed three windows at her premises.

The complainant told the court that Brown has been a nuisance at her home and her family is not comfortable with him.

It is reported that Brown, who had no place to live was given two weeks to leave the complainant's home; however, he overstayed his time and was causing trouble.

Problems

"Your Honour, him smash out three of the windows with stone and he is a squatter there. He begged two weeks to stay at the house and I sympathised with him; now him a threaten people in the yard and causing a lot of problems," the complainant said.

Brown said the house was abandoned and he got permission to stay there.

"I am waiting on a interview and I am planning on moving as soon as possible. I am begging to stay until the end of next month," he said.

However, Senior Resident Judith Pusey told Brown that he only has two weeks.
