High-school teacher to face court in November

A trial date of November 25 was set in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday in a matter in which a high-school teacher is alleged to have forged his academic qualifications.

Charged with forgery, conspiracy to defraud and uttering forged documents is Selvin Stewart.

The Crown allege that the chairman of a Corporate Area high school received information that teachers at the institution were in possession of fraudulent certificates on their personal files.

As a result, the chairman made a request for everyone on staff to present their certificates for verification. Stewart failed to produce his and it aroused levels of suspicion.

An investigation was subsequently carried out and after due diligence, it was discovered that the documents were allegedly fraudulent.

A mention date of September 6 was also set for disclosure.
