High hopes from Digicel Rising Stars' Top Five

The island's premier talent show, Digicel Rising Stars, is slowly rising to a crescendo. From thousands of hopefuls at the audition shows to hundreds of possible contestants, to 14 live show performers and now the Digicel Rising Stars' competition is down to five talented youngsters.

Digicel Rising Stars has maintained its reputation as the biggest supporter of local-talent culture and entertainment and, in its 10th season, nothing has changed.

The competition is still the breeding and training ground of raw talent from all across Jamaica.

Meet the talented bunch which made it to the coveted Digicel Rising Stars Top Five:

Kids love my performances and you know when kids love something it's a hit. I can fit into any audience - uptown, downtown, anywhere at all".

But what's the first thing he would do if he wins the competition?

"Go home and sleep," he said laughing. "Seriously, this is very taxing. So, after, rest I would host two concerts (in Linstead, his hometown, and in Kingston) to say thanks to my fans and then embark on a project to fix a section of the hospital in Linstead. I know a million dollarscan'tdo much but I have to give back to my fans and my community".

This quiet teenager made his way into the competition on Reggae and Dancehall Night as Craigy T's wildcard and has stamped his class among the talented pool of contenders. The musician (who plays several instruments including the guitar and keyboard) said he is only competing against himself in this competition and believes he has what it takes to win.

"I deserve to win because I am a good musician, and it's very shameful to see talented musicians like myself go to waste," he said.

He has always wanted to be an accomplished musician and is using this opportunity to further his musical career.

"The experience, so far, has been great. A lot of good things have been happening and I have learnt a lot about myself. I didn't know that I was so friendly," she said.
