Guns, ammo seized in Portmore

Police seized four guns and a quantity of ammunition in Portmore, St Catherine, yesterday.

No one was arrested in connection with the seizure, the police said.

The guns were seized during an operation conducted by the St Catherine South Operational Support Team, St Catherine South Divisional Fugitive Apprehension Team, and the Caribbean Search Centre in the Boston area of Waterford, St Catherine.

Information reaching THE WEEKEND STAR is that about 5 a.m., lawmen were on operation when two men were seen walking near a farm in the community.

Upon the approach of the police, the men allegedly ran, leaving behind a bag that was subsequently searched. The police said two Intratec submachine guns and a 9mm pistol were found in the bag. The area in which the men were seen was also searched and another 9mm pistol and a magazine containing seven 9mm rounds were found in a shed.

Investigation into the seizure is ongoing, the police said.
