Chad Bryan, STAR Writer

A video showing a man attacking and physically abusing his common-law wife has been making the rounds on the Internet.

The video, which is 7:14 in length, initially begins with the young lady smiling at the irate man's questioning.

However, her apparent joy soon turned to sorrow when the man became angry and started demanding to know where the woman had been for a long period of time, and why she had gone to the south west St Andrew community, popularly known as 'Back To'.

Shortly after loud punches, kicks, expletives and allegations of unfaithfulness are made.

"Who you know a Back To? Mi nuh inna nuh laughing ting wid you enuh, mek mi hear seh you go back to that b... place," the man exclaimed, followed by a tussle and several loud blows to the woman's body.

The couple falls to the ground with the woman writhing in pain and crying as man continues his assault.

"Who you know a Back To, een? Who you know a Back To? Every time me call you, you gone to Back To," followed by several slaps to her face.

A man holding a baby can be heard telling the videographer to hold the child while he parts the warring couple.

Eventually, the couple is parted and they continue to argue. They begin fighting again and the man continues to demand a reason for her disappearance for the long period, and who she had gone to see in the community. The couple are again parted, arguments continue and the video ends.

Executive director of the Women's Resource and Outreach Centre, Dorothy Whyte, condemned the assault on the woman. She said her organisation was willing to offer counselling services and assist the woman in understanding the importance of reporting the man to the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse.

A female police officer from the Hunts Bay Police Station acknowledged that a report was made to the station sometime Monday night.
