|||||
![]() File - Macka Diamond. A resurgent Macka Diamond is enjoying her success as her runaway hit single 'Dye Dye' has conquered reggae and dancehall charts all over the world. The success of the single has been so phenomenal that she plans to do a Spanish version of the hit song to tap into her popularity in the Central and South American markets. "We are getting a lot of requests for dubs from places like Costa Rica, Honduras, Peru, and Mexico, so I am thinking about translating a verse of the song into Spanish to feed into those markets," she said. Macka Diamond has been on a tour the last few weeks since doing Reggae Sumfest and Manchester Fiesta. She spent the last two weeks in Trinidad where she performed on consecutive weekends on huge shows in the island. The first was a fête dubbed 'Wet Wet' in the north central area of Trinidad in a town called Arima, the birthplace of calypsonian legend Lord Kitchener. The second event, dubbed 'Dye Dye', was held in Santa Flora in the southern region of Trinidad. "The events were sold out, thousands of people came out, and they loved Dye Dye over there. I just have a great connection with Trinidad, anytime mi hot, Trinidad always welcomes me with open arms and mi love the Trini people, they have a great energy and love for life," Macka Diamond said. Macka Diamond also used the opportunity of living in Trinidad for two weeks to push her latest singles, My Body Is Calling and Twist Me to the enthusiastic dancehall-loving Trini crowd. She also did a collaboration called Mash Up The Road And Build It Back with soca star Blacks. "Mi do road hard over there, I also went to the Zen nightclub where I performed the songs and interacted with the audience," she said. Macka will head back to Trinidad for another show on September 23. She will return to the US during the Labour Day weekend to perform at DJ Nore's 'Anything Goes' show, after which she will zigzag the country to Orlando as part of her ongoing book tour, then depart for New York. Macka Diamond is also confirmed for three shows in the United Kingdom, on November 29 through to December 1. |
