Popular emcee Nuffy has come out paying homage to embattled Jamaican dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel, and stating that his incarceration has had a negative impact on dancehall music.

"From Vybz Kartel deh a jail, dancehall deh a jail," said Nuffy in a statement sent to THE WEEKEND STAR.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, has been in custody since September 2011, after he was slapped with two murder charges. The deejay was recently acquitted on one of the charges but remains in custody awaiting the start of the trail for the other case in November.

In the meantime, however, Nuffy who has recently released a collaboration with Kartel, Make Some Money, says that he wants to remind everybody about how important the deejay is to the dancehall fraternity.

He said that Kartel has had an amazing impact on the music and his talent has been sorely missed.

Apart from his contribution to music, Nuffy also said that Kartel has been a major influence in his life. He said that in the past the deejay reached out to him in his times of trouble.

In one situation, Nuffy said he was robbed of his money and car, and it was Kartel who called and offered assistance to him.

"In my time of trouble, him show me love and respect," said Nuffy.

The emcee said: "Me always keep him inna me mind as a yute who me would a love fe see him free up knowing that him buss one case already, and my Psalms weh me read fi him a Psalms 109."
