Court to decide if ... 21-Y-O bullies producer for sex

A 21-year-old man who has been implicated in a scheme that he threatened a female television producer to have sex with him was granted $250,000 bail when he appeared in The Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

He is Jowayne Hibbert, a student of Duke Street in Kingston who should return to court on October 31.

Hibbert who has been charged with conspiracy to procure unlawful carnal connection and attempt to procure unlawful carnal connection is to report to the Kingston Central Police Station three times weekly.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey has also ordered the accused to surrender his travel documents.

It is reported that the producer, a female university student, was threatened to have sex with the accused or have her nude photographs published on Facebook.

Allegations are that on July 18, the complainant reported to the Organised Crime Investigation Unit (OCID) that messages and nude photographs were sent from another Facebook account holder to her.

It is alleged that the messages stated that the nude pictures of the complainant would be published on a specific Facebook page if she did not have sex with Hibbert.

Upon subsequent investigations, the accused was arrested.

In court yesterday, the police said that the complainant is in fear of her life and the accused should not be granted bail, however, RM Pusey gave Hibbert a stern warning and did so.

The police have requested additional time to complete their case, however, RM Pusey said that despite the allegations, the accused should not suffer because of insufficient evidence.
