Dobroye utro Yamayka! (Good morning Jamaica) |
|||||
Today, I want to talk a little about cars. Now if you love cars like myself and by the sound of it, most of the Jamaicans here, then you would love this place. "If anybody thinks that Jamaica has traffic, come to Moscow; cars everywhere, old cars, news cars, 1980s cars, 2015 cars, it's a lovely city." That was the first thing that came to Olympic 200m bronze medallist Warren Weir's mind when asked about his impression of 'Moskva' (Moscow). And for good reason. It is filled with cars, high-end cars in particular. "I have never seen so many high-end vehicles in one place," technical leader Maurice Wilson exclaimed the other day. To press home his point, walking down the street, any street in Moscow, you are bound to see anything from a Bentley, Bugatti, Ferrari; you name it, parked on a curb somewhere. I've already seen several Rolls Royce and Porsche models and I won't even mention the Audi, BMW and Benz vehicles that zip by at a rate of almost every other vehicle. It's certainly no Monte Carlo where high end cars are concerned, but Moscow is a close second, making every one-hour ride to and from the stadium a little more pleasing to the eye. |
