"The occasion was the seventh of a series of meetings aimed at empowering persons on how to become entrepreneurs," Nicola Green of the SDC said. During the sessions, persons were educated on how to access loans and also best practices. "At a time when the business landscape is very challenging, three entities have joined together to make it easier," Sophia Richardson, micro and small business manager at First Heritage Co-operative Credit Union said. THE WEEKEND STAR was told that persons can access from $20,000 to $500,000 in business loans. Meanwhile, Alicia Bougues of Caribbean Broilers said more than 500 persons have benefited from the workshops. "We used one of the successful pan chicken winners to help and engage the participants, and it really works," Bougues said. The entities involved are the Social Development Commission, First Heritage Co-operative Credit Union, and Caribbean Broilers. The organisations have been having seminars with persons on small business operations and the consensus is that it is a welcome approach that will benefit persons to better access support in doing business. |
